Tenuta Monacelli – Lecce is a magnificent 16th century masseria complex in the heart of the Salento region, consisting of two authentic masserias, Masseria Monacelli and Masseria Gianpaolo. Set in 400 hectares of vineyards, olive groves, citrus orchards and holm oak woods, the Tenuta is located 1km from the Abbey of Cerrate, 13km from Lecce, the baroque city, and 1km from the sea. Divided between the two masserias, the spacious rooms are equipped with air conditioning, minibar, SmartTv, Wifi. At the centre of the masseria complex is the huge 33-metre swimming pool, surrounded by dry-stone walls, bar area and a functional gym. Exclusive ‘Rifugio del Re’ restaurant, with an elegant outdoor terrace: traditional Apulian dishes with products from the farm, and an open-air barbecue.
The Tenuta’s Mediterranean scrubland is an excellent setting for beekeeping, with 210 beehives producing a multi-flower honey with an aromatic flavour, enhanced by the blooming thyme. Alongside, four hectares of citrus groves yield Sorrento lemons, mandarins and clementines, from which an intensely scented limoncello and mandarinetto are made, an authentic expression of southern Italy.
